why am i paying for another site?

I meant that by "gets" - the training video library is not lichess' - the index is!

But I get your point... we would need to be careful with the video curation. But I don't see much downside. If someone creates a great video that covers rook endgames, and wants to sell you coaching/a book on rook endgames, then that should not be a problem (lichess gets traffic, users get a good video on rook endgames and the video maker might get buyers).

I agree that we should avoid any "teaser" videos (e.g. first 5 mins free, then advert to watch rest as a subscriber on chess.com - that is rubbish)
Yeah. Provided someone is paying good attention to the curation, and there's some distinction on the list between "official" lichess videos and those simply aggregated because we like them, I'm 100% for this idea!
This seems like a pretty great idea, and I'm in favour of a well-curated list of videos on various chess topics with the proviso that there be a distinct section for videos created by lichess users for the very intent of sharing them with this library.
I would suggest a lichess (not youtube) video rating system. For example, if we have (within lichess) "pawn structures" topic under videos, we can have a vote up and down system, that would be uneffected by the youtube ratings. Within that topic people can also list their games which are relevant to the topic, which could also be rated based on relevance. Then you would have, lecture and examples kind of scenario. Perhaps in the future, we could also have automated recommendation messages per user, saying hey based on your game analysis, we have curated this video list for you.
Some good ideas there GMGB...the ratings idea is grand. The last idea seems a bit over my head on how that could even be made possible, but maybe a long time down the road.
I created the spreadsheet on google docs.
Whoever wants to help feeding it, please send me your email by lichess private message.
This is a lovely idea. I think we should almost definitely be able to find a skilled user - master strength either formally or informally - who will be willing to put some time into this.
i watch a lot of chess videos on YT and have some "experience" in them, what can i do to help?
Thank you clarkey and thibault for all of your hard work, and better yet, Free, services. Playing with people on this site has truly been great and has allowed me to greatly improve my chess.
I think that the idea of having a internal rating sistem will be very profitable for the users, I mean, this is a great idea, but, if this works, there will be a lot of lichess users watching videos, and the possibility of rating them for their educational value would be very interesting.
I will keep this on sight!
