LM title requirements

Yeah true, but how else can you make sure that the player is not cheating? If you come up with a better way then I agree with you.
At least the 1800 FIDE rating requirement makes things a little less suspicious.
In my case, I simply don't have the time or inclination to stay in any MORE hotels or travel MORE than I do as a touring concert musician. I want to stay in with my cats and my gf when I get some time off!

Lichess will no doubt examine applicants thoroughly with their anti cheat software, which seems pretty effective overall. Otherwise so many players wouldn't have labels about being computer users.

It just seems weird to me to require someone to be a card-carrying FIDE member to get this lichess-only title. Which I want :D
I'm happy with the anti cheat system, and I think it's effective for catching the lazy cheaters.
But what if you are not a lazy cheater? What if you really take the time to tune the engine to make a blunder or a mistake once in a while. What if you are a somewhat strong player, but you only turn on the engine when you think your position is getting bad, to at least get a draw? Maybe you could avoid the anti cheat system. There would be human mistakes mixed with perfect calculation, and it would be hard to detect that.

I agree it's somewhat weird, and unfair, but I think it's effective nonetheless, because if the only requirement were just to have 2450 rating, imagine how many "kids" would start to cheat just to get the title.

That's how I imagine things, but maybe I'm too distrustful.
Herecomestheblunder, I'm a kid and I would never use an engine because, why, the only person your cheating is yourself
#14: Yes but you're not just 'a kid', you're Dominic Klingher - future world champion.

#13: I disagree. The anti-cheat system caught out lichess's (former) no.1 player. It is relatively unflawed. In addition, I imagine that the relatively few players here who apply for LM will be thoroughly vetted throughout their 20 games where they must keep above the required level by playing similarly ranked players as themselves.
