Suggestion: Opt-in sides/teams for tournaments.

Hello! I was wondering if it was possible to implement opting into pre-determined teams/sides for tournaments. This would allow tournaments that were more theme-based. Tournament creators would be allowed to set the number of teams, and the pre-determined options for each team.

Some examples of tournaments that players could create with this implementation:

-White vs Black tournaments: players choose the side they prefer to play.

- Horde vs Pieces: Horde version of W vs B.

- Team tournaments: (e.g. "Team Magnus Fans vs Team Naka fans")

- Drafts: Team tournaments where captains pick from a pool of other players...

and other types of fun options I'm sure I haven't thought of! All points earned would be allocated to the team of the player, with the individual point contribution still available.

"What if a tournament is created, but everyone wants to play one side?" Well, that wouldn't be very fun! If the creator was also allowed the option to auto-balance the tournament instead of the opt-in, then players would be automatically placed into a side based on team-balance.

What do you guys think? All feedback appreciated!

P.S.

Big thanks to Thibault for all of the hard work that goes into the site!
This is really very very good ideas. Tons of work for developers, of course, but it worth!

If we had Team vs Team matches, it will bring more sense to Teams on Lichess. It is possible to make a series of such tournaments, united in the League.
Every year we could have World Lichess Cup, 16 best Teams of a League, playing one each other every Saturday - 1/8, 1/4, then semi-final, and final game, live on lichess TV broadcast with legendary Chesswhiz as a commentator. Winner Team will hold a Title of World Champion for a year and every it's member, that played in final game, will have a Trophy in profile.

Also "Drafts: Team tournaments where captains pick from a pool of other players..." looks very interesting. Imagine strong players that stream videos on Lichess, for example BlitzStream vs Zugaddict, create a match, and pick players in their teams, with both commentating match live, together or separately. During match they could have a right to go in every game and give advices.
Interesting ideas,

I think that it makes sense,
BlitzStream yes,Zugaddict too....but Kristo's Team Chess is actually the best Team on Lichess,
We're ready to win the Cup for the best Team, and we're also ready to fight with each Team,

Good idea, but how do a match with a team of 1000 member against a team of 100member ? How choice the time and the variantes ? How do when there are inactif player in the team ?
If a team of 1000 members play against a team of 100 members, then a team with 1000 players have to pick 100 players, who will represent their team in a match (most higher rated players, or vote inside a team, or leader of the team picking players).

It could be a competition for standart bullet (1+0), standart blitz (5+0), standart classical (15+0), and every variant (5+0 time). Overall 8 Cups - all variants and time controls on lichess except correspondence.

Inactive players in a team just do not play.
24 hours before the start of a match it becomes open, and players that are permanent members of a team can join a match.
10 minutes before the start excessive players are discarded, but are available as a substitution if during the tournament somebody withdrawn.

I would like to see "yes" or "no" from developers, just to know that discussing this topic is not a wasting of time.
