I have an Opinion about Hans Niemann

@PatataBanana

Further evidence:

After his victory against Carlsen, Niemann claimed that “by some ridiculous miracle” he had guessed what Carlsen's unusual opening would be and prepared for it.

The interviewer said, "But how did you know to prepare this opening? Magnus has never played it before." Niemann said Magnus did play it against Wesley So in the London Chess Classic, 2018 -- not true.

According to Slate, "Carlsen and So never played each other in London that year—though they did play in a 2019 match in India, where Carlsen deployed a different version of the move in question. ... 'Nakamura and So himself argued that the [2019] game’s different structure nullified comparisons between the two.' "

There is no reasonable way Niemann would have known to prepare this opening.

All of you, conspiracy theorists, you are repeating the same pathetic slanders, that you have found on Internet, without checking them. You should check the facts, rather than slander a young player without any proof. This behavior is similar to what we see in dictatorships, where people are accused and condemned without proof.
At the end of his last editorial for "Chess Magazine", Malcolm Pein explains why what you said is completely ridiculous, and why it proves that you know nothing about TRANSPOSITIONS:
en.chessbase.com/post/chess-editorial-malcolm-pein-rear-ended
QUOTE:
Here is the game that apparently triggered the original furore. Much was made of the fact that Niemann said he was prepared for the variation that appeared on the board as it is a rare one, but that’s because people tend not to understand the nature of transpositions most of the time.
Consider these moves: 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 Bb4 4 Nf3 b6 was Le Quang Liem against Niemann from the FTX Crypto Cup just weeks before the Sinquefield Cup. Now if 5 g3 0-0 6.Bg2 d5 is a decent reply, so it’s not ridiculous for Niemann to have considered this position or 1 Nf3 Nf6 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 Bb4 4 g3 0-0 5 Bg2 d5 6 d4 dxc4 7 0-0, which was Carlsen-Adams, Turin Olympiad 2006, and is very similar. Indeed, Magnus could have transposed back to that game had he preferred 6 Nf3 against Niemann. There’s also the Catalan move order 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e6 3 Nf3 d5 4 g3 Bb4+ when 5 Nc3 has been quite topical of late and now 5...0-0 6 a3 Nxc3+ 7 bxc3 dxc4 8 Bg2 has been played at GM level and leads us straight back into Carlsen-Niemann.
CONCLUSION:
It's a TRANSPOSITION of a type of line that Carlsen has played many times before!

Right, so Carlsen should be banned, because he cheated on Lichess, in the official Lichess Titled Arena Dec 2021, a cash prize tournament:

Carlsen should be banned for cheating in an online official cash prize tournament.
@lichinut
Niemann is simply a good chess player, who has been working 14 hours a day for years. Here are a few remarks, to counter the slanders and other biased statistical "analysis":
1) Niemann's FIDE rating in blitz has increased at the same rate as his FIDE rating in classical chess. It is not possible to cheat in blitz over-the-board. The fact that his blitz rating has increased at the same rate as his classical rating is proof that he is not cheating. See the chart of his ranking progression, on the FIDE website:
ratings.fide.com/profile/2093596/chart
2) French GM Laurent Fressinet, who was one of Carlsen's seconds, and who was ranked over 2700 a few years ago (currently 2622 FIDE), met Hans a few months ago in Paris. He saw Niemann play a blitz match against MVL (current world blitz champion) and "it was very close, MVL won in the Armaggedon". Then he played some blitz himself against Hans, and Jules Moussard, another French GM (2686 FIDE), played some blitz against Hans too, and Fressinet's comment is: "He kicked our asses", "He clearly is 2700 level". Listen to his testimony here:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmldeic5NF8&t=2389s
3) To see Niemann's level, you can watch the 3'+2" blitz he played at the "Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid" blitz cup, on December 9, 2021, against the Dutch GM Loek Van Wely (currently 2627, he was over 2700 a few years ago). In zeitnot, with a few seconds on the clock, in a very complicated position, Niemann checkmated Loek. It's here:

@PatataBanana I don't deny he's a strong player but I do maintain the game against Carlsen, the statements afterward, and his rapid rise are suspicious.

If he's not cheating, I'll be happy to see him continue to compete.

We will have to wait and see.
