But his game is from a blitz/rapid tournament. That's not serious classsical chess, which could be the reason Ding played a joke by taking the king for a walk.
I think it's a bit clickbait / misleading to release a blog titled: "Ding defeats Carlsen..." so close to the world championships. It suggests that somehow Ding played Carlsen for the world championship and won, which of course would not happen.
In the overall match score between the two, Carlsen is far ahead:
